It has been awhile since I’ve written a “poem.”  I’ve done some lyrics for my band, Psychedelic Revival (check out Willow and Snakeskin and Whiskey) and done some writing here and there for a novel that’s been on the back burner for a bit, but I haven’t really done any poems per say recently.

That being said, for fun, I thought as a challenge I wanted to see if I could write a poem with a loose theme that is totally alphabetical and structured by that alone.  It’s a lot harder than it seems!

Here’s my attempt:

Another anemic afternoon –
beyond black buoyant banality –
crescendos, crackling,
descending doubtless,
effortless, effervescent even,
floating fantastic, foraging,
grazing galactically.

High hopes
infer indignant indulgences,
jump judgmentally,
kick
lamely. Left luxuriously
moaning, most maddeningly
numb, noxiously neglect narrow needs,
often overtly.

Pungent pain,
quickly quixotic,
races reawakened,
seeks supine
thoughts tonight.

Unexplored
vestibules voluntarily
whine with wonder, withholding
xenial
yonder
zeniths.
